Your Staff Team
Our members of staff are very precious to us as they are the heart of the nursery and as such we respect and treat them in the way in which we would  expect to be treated ourselves and will not tolerate any undesirable behaviour from any users of the nursery.

Staff are here to encourage, challenge and provide enthusiasm to each and every child we care for,  helping them on their way to become confident little individuals.

Please note that our team understand the opportunities and learning which come out of the various messy activities on offer at nursery and        so we ask parents do not dress children in good clothes.   If children are not involved in messy activities indoors then they may be outdoors getting messy !      Visit Myclothing.com for nursery items

Please feel free to read more information about our team below.

LOUISE - MANAGER

I started working in Sweetie Brae in September 2023 and loved the ethos of the nursery and how much it felt so much like a home from home.

I have 24 years childcare experience and 4 years of this at managerial level.

In 2025, I achieved my BA Childhood Practice degree at the University of West Scotland.

I have also undertaken further training in lead child protection training, Level 2 understanding autism and level 2 safe handling of medication which gives me the knowledge and understanding required in my role.

In my spare time, I like spending it with my family, especially my 2 nephews, walking the dog and socialising with friends.

CLARE - SENIOR TEAM LEADER

I started Sweetie Brae in 2014 and I have my HNC in childcare.

I originally covered lunches as I worked in the local after school club then moved on to becoming full time from October 2021 in Sweetie Brae. I am now employed on a full time basis as Senior room leader.

Outwith work, I like to spend time with my family and relaxing.

MEL - TEAM LEADER

My name is Melanie or Mel as most call me.

I joined Sweetie Brae as a student from South Lanarkshire College in 2000 and became a permanent staff member upon completing my HNC in childcare and Education in 2002.

As we are a small nursery, we are familiar with all the rooms and the children, which helps a great deal as children transition from one room to the next.

In my spare time, I like to spend quality time with my husband and three children.

ABBIE - TEAM LEADER

I first came to Sweetie Brae when I was a student studying my National 5 at South Lanarkshire college and absolutely loved working here with such a brilliant team.

I then was given the opportunity in 2019  to join the team while I was studying and have since qualified as an early years practitioner.

When I’m not working I love spending time with my little boy Tommy and all my family.

I joined Sweetie Brae in March 2021 as a support to the staff to carry out all the morning domestic duties within the nursery.

This was a good start for me as I wish to have a  childcare career in the future and having a position in the nursery let's  me get a feel for the work involved.

I am now covering in the playrooms and hope to complete my qualification  in 2024.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my son, Riley and the rest of my family.

Alison

Early Years Practitioner

Hi, I’m Alison. I began my childcare journey in 2008, and after having my two sons, I earned my HNC in Childhood Practice in 2023.

In 2024, I joined the wonderful team at Sweetie Brae, and I’ve enjoyed every moment since. Currently, I’m working as bank staff while expecting my third baby, so you’ll see me in different rooms throughout the nursery. The highlight for me is building relationships with all the children.

Amy

Early Years Practitioner

Hello! My name is Amy and I am new to the Sweetie Brae team. I have a range of qualifications and experience that I have gained over the last 8 years such as NC in Early Education and Childcare, HNC Childhood Practice, and my HND Childhood Practice.

Now for a little bit about me. I am 25 years old and a mum of two boys (Noah 4, and Grayson who will be 1) and two fur babies (my kittens Ginger and Nutty). I love everything messy and really encourage this within my practice to show children that the best way to learn is using our 5 senses.

Due to having my little boy in November 2023, I am currently only bank staff so you can find me either having a cuddle with the babies or getting crazy with the 3-5's!
