FIRST AIDER
I started working in Sweetie Brae in September 2023 and loved the ethos of the nursery and how much it felt so much like a home from home.
I have 24 years childcare experience and 4 years of this at managerial level. I am currently studying my BA Childhood Practice degree at the University of West Scotland one night a week to further my knowledge.
I have also undertaken further training in lead child protection training, Level 2 understanding autism and level 2 safe handling of medication which gives me the knowledge and understanding required in my role.
In my spare time, I like spending it with my family, especially my 2 nephews, walking the dog and socialising with friends.

I joined Sweetie Brae in March 2021 as a support to the staff to carry out all the morning domestic duties within the nursery.
This was a good start for me as I wish to have a childcare career in the future and having a position in the nursery let's me get a feel for the work involved.
I am looking at various options to gain my qualification while working at the nursery.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my son, Riley and the rest of my family.

March 21 brought me a new position within Sweetie Brae where I carry out the domestic duties in the afternoon which supports the childcare staff. As I would like to have a career in childcare, this was a benefit to me as I can now see whats involved in the actual roles.
I have already started to help cover some of the rooms when others have been on holiday or sick and I have loved the experience so far.
I will be looking at the various options to become qualified in the future.

Hi, my name is Maura. I first started in Sweetie Brae as a volunteer helping in all the rooms, allowing me to gain experience with all ages. I now work in the nursery five days a week as a Support Worker.
In the nursery I love singing, sensory play and reading stories. In my spare time I like writing and recording songs and writing and illustrating children’s stories.
Most of my experience surrounds working with children who need some extra support with their communication. Being a qualified Makaton for Babies and Families trainer, you’ll often find me signing with the children - when my hands aren’t full of symbol cards!”

April
Early years Practitioner
FIRST AIDER
My name is April.
I started working within Sweetie Brae Nursery in the under 3’s at the start of 2024.
I have a HNC in Childhood Practise and am a qualified practitioner. I am now working towards my honours degree in Childhood Studies and in year 3. My favourite part about working in the nursery is the joy of watching children learn and grow. Seeing their little minds light up as they discover new things. It's those precious interactions and the genuine connections I can make with the children that make my job so special.
